Good health is serious business, right? But, nothing will get in the way of good health like worrying and stressing out about it! It’s especially difficult for women over 50 because we’ve tried it all … Right?!? If you choose to work with me, you’ll be working with a health coach who likes to have just a little fun while we go about the business of making healthy lifestyle changes.

A bit about me: I am a cat with many lives! My motto? Never get bored! I’ve been a Graphic Designer at a Chicago Metro studio, Special Projects Manager at G.D. Searle Pharmaceuticals, Ground Operations Manager at FedEx Express and a self-employed Marketing Consultant. I’ve written feature articles and corporate newsletters as well.

In 2009 I found myself without health insurance for the first time in my life! Instead of being completely
stressed, (Okay, I was pretty stressed!) I decided to get healthy and that was when I found my passion
for a living a healthy lifestyle including wanting to eat healthy, add in exercise, build community, and self esteem:
basically, building a life that promotes wellness and life satisfaction.

I had good reason to be paying attention. I watched my mother wither away with Congestive Heart Failure (Coronary Heart Disease) and had a grandfather and uncle who both died of heart attacks before their 57th birthday. I was already past that! In 2006 I lost my husband to a major stroke. He was 63 … I wasn’t that far away from that. It was critical that I change my lifestyle!

I got healthy and learned some of the keys to that lifestyle and realized I wanted to guide and support others on their journey to a happy and healthy life. I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2010 and earned certification as a Holistic Health Coach in 2011. Let me tell you that I learned so much more there! It’s not just about food and exercise; It’s about balance. I have never looked back!

It is life experience and education that I bring to the each class and each client! When I teach a class my favorite time is after it’s over and people ask questions or come up and talk to me about their situation. I love it!

I offer group and individual health coaching, several Workplace Wellness presentations throughout the Metro, and am the author of a blog which changed focus when I found that resources for women over 50, who are always going through transition, were woefully absent.

My first book, No Kale Required: Healthy Eating for the Rest of Us was published in January , 2017 and hit the best seller list in its category by April! I  teach health classes through AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Mid-Continent Public Libraries, have served as a health coach at Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center in Mission and presented several healthy lifestyle presentations through Johnson County Parks and Recreation.

I am a Juice Plus+ representative because so many good things happen when people add high-density, high-variety, whole-food nutrition to their bodies.

Throughout the years I have been active in a variety of organizations. I am currently handling social media for Grandparents Against Gun Violence Kansas City, and am the Secretary/Treasurer of BNI Overland Park #1 Chapter having held previous positions as Vice President and Mentor Coordinator. In the past I’ve held positions of VP of Programming, VP of Membership for the ABWA – KC Express Chapter. As an avid animal advocate, I have volunteered at Great Plains SPCA supporting the Intake Department.
